Dehumidifiers for damp basements

A dehumidifier is the simplest fix for a damp basement, musty crawl space, or any room that keeps growing mold. Capacity is rated in pints per day (and by square footage); a damp basement usually needs a 30–50 pint unit, a large or wet space more. Look for a built-in pump or continuous-drain hose so you’re not emptying a tank, plus a humidistat to hold a target around 30–50% RH — the range that stops mold without over-drying. For crawl spaces, a low-profile unit built for that environment is worth the premium.
