GFCI outlet & voltage testers

Basic electrical testers let a homeowner or inspector confirm an outlet is wired and grounded correctly without pulling a cover. A receptacle/GFCI tester plugs in and shows open ground, reversed polarity, or a miswired outlet via indicator lights, and trips the GFCI to confirm it works. A non-contact voltage tester glows or beeps near live wires so you can verify a circuit is dead before you touch it — the cheapest safety tool in the box. Together they catch the wiring faults that show up most on a home inspection.
