Lg lt1000p water filter

The LG LT1000P water filter is the cartridge most current LG refrigerator owners end up buying, and it hides behind a surprising number of part numbers. LG’s own listings name ADQ74793501, ADQ75795105, AGF80300704 and AGF80300705, sells it as LT1000P, LT1000P2 and LT1000P3 multi-packs, and bundles it with the LT120F air filter. Compatible brands add LT1000PC, LT1000PCS and Kenmore 46-9980. This page sorts out those names, shows how to confirm your fridge takes the LT1000P, lays out the certification gap between the genuine cartridge and the compatibles, and ranks five current listings. If you are not sure your LG uses the LT1000P at all, our LG refrigerator water filter overview, linked below, covers the other LG cartridges.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

How we compared: we compared 11 current Amazon listings for the LT1000P, four sold by LG and seven from compatible brands, on what each listing actually states: the part numbers it replaces, rated capacity, the NSF/ANSI standards it names and how it words them, whether an air filter is included, and stated warranty. We did not lab-test these filters or install them hands-on. Prices and availability change often, so check the live listing before you buy.

Which filter fits your fridge

This table lists the LT1000P names and fit statements exactly as the listings give them. It shows how the numbers relate; it is not a full catalog of every LG or Kenmore fridge.

Filter model Style and location Replaces (per listings) Fits (per listings)
LG LT1000P (single), LT1000P2, LT1000P3 Quarter-turn twist-and-lock cartridge ADQ74793501, ADQ75795105, AGF80300704, AGF80300705 LG French door, side-by-side and bottom-freezer models, per LG’s bundle listing
Compatible LT1000P replacements Same cartridge form, per the brands LT1000PC, LT1000PCS, LT-1000PC, ADQ74793502, MDJ64844601, Kenmore 46-9980, 9980 Model families named include LFXS, LMXS, LFXC, LMXC, LRFDS, LRFVS, LRMDS and LRMXS
LG LT120F (air filter in bundles) Fresh-air filter, not a water filter ADQ73214402, ADQ73214403, ADQ73214404, ADQ73334008 LG fridges with a fresh-air filter slot

LG’s single-pack listing says the packaging is being refreshed, so the box may be black or white while the filter inside stays the same. Multiple listings also note packaging variations, which is worth knowing before you assume a box that looks different is a counterfeit.

How to confirm your fridge takes the LT1000P

The quickest proof is the filter you are replacing. Remove it and read the label on the cartridge. LT1000P, ADQ74793501, ADQ75795105, AGF80300704 or AGF80300705 confirms the family. On a Kenmore, 46-9980 or 9980 on the old cartridge points the same way, per the compatible listings.

If there is no old cartridge, use the refrigerator’s model number. LG generally places the model and serial label inside the fresh-food compartment, often on a side wall, and the owner’s manual names the correct filter. Check that model number against LG’s parts lookup or the fit list in a listing, remembering that seller fit lists are claims. LG’s bundle listing gives sensible advice here: check the filter compartment or model number before ordering.

Be careful with lookalikes. LG also uses other cartridges, including the LT500P, which is on our brand page. The LT1000P name alone matters less than the part number on the cartridge your fridge already uses.

Genuine vs compatible

This is where the LT1000P differs from many other fridge filters. Two of the four genuine LG listings here, the single pack and the bundle, name NSF 42, 53 and 401 by number. The two multi-packs say “NSF-certified” and repeat the same reduction claims. LG’s single-pack listing says only genuine LG filters are certified by NSF International to those three standards and lists claims of 99.99 percent cyst reduction, 99 percent asbestos reduction and nearly all mercury, lead and benzene.

The compatibles land in three groups. Four of the seven name NSF 42 and 372: Amazon Basics, AQUA CREST, ICEPURE and Waterdrop. GLACIER FRESH says its filter was tested to NSF 42 standards, which is weaker than “certified.” Ramco and Molifal name no NSF standard at all. What the numbers mean:

  • NSF/ANSI 42: aesthetic effects, mainly chlorine taste and odor.
  • NSF/ANSI 53: health-related contaminants such as lead and cysts.
  • NSF/ANSI 401: emerging contaminants such as some pharmaceuticals and pesticides.
  • NSF/ANSI 372: lead-free materials in water-contact parts. It is not a lead-reduction standard.

So no compatible here claims the 53 or 401 certifications the genuine LT1000P names. Some compatibles still mention heavy metals, and AQUA CREST mentions PFOA and PFOS, but those claims rest on third-party lab statements, not on a named health-contaminant certification. The EPA’s consumer tool for lead-reducing filters points buyers to filters certified against both NSF/ANSI 53 and 42 by an accredited third party. You can confirm any product’s status in the certifier’s online listings.

LG’s single-pack listing also warns that third-party filters can cause damage and are not covered under the LG warranty. None of the LG listings describe a chip or sensor that rejects compatibles, so the practical question is warranty and certification, not whether the fridge will accept the cartridge.

The 5 picks, compared listing by listing

1. LG LT1000P — Best Overall LT1000P Filter

Best overallLG LT1000P

Genuine LG LT1000P naming NSF 42, 53 and 401, all four LG part numbers and a one-year manufacturer warranty.

Why we like it

  • Names NSF 42, 53 and 401 in the title
  • Lists all four LG part numbers it covers
  • One-year manufacturer warranty stated
  • Gives LG’s 3-to-6-month replacement guidance
Specification Details

Warranty One year from the manufacturer

LG LT1000P — genuine single cartridge, NSF 42/53/401 by NSF International, 200 gal, 1-yr warranty

The Genuine Listing With the Most Complete Paperwork

Of the four genuine LG listings, this single pack is the one that puts everything in one place: all four LG part numbers in the title, the three NSF standards by number, NSF International named as the certifier, and a one-year manufacturer warranty. The multi-packs state only 90 days, and the bundle says “limited warranty” without a term.

It also gives the most cautious replacement guidance on the shelf. Most listings say 6 months or 200 gallons; this one says LG recommends every 3 to 6 months. Heavy dispenser and ice-maker use is the reason to lean toward the shorter end.

The trade-off is that a single cartridge means reordering at every change, and you will pay the per-filter premium of a single pack. If you are sure of the fit, the three-pack in pick 2 is the same genuine cartridge.

Pros

  • Names NSF 42, 53 and 401 and the certifier
  • All four LG part numbers listed
  • One-year manufacturer warranty
  • Conservative 3-to-6-month guidance

Cons

  • Single filter only
  • No air filter included
  • Box design may vary during repackaging

2. LG LT1000P3 — Best Genuine Multi-Pack

  • Names genuine LG part ADQ74793501
  • Same reduction claims as the single pack
  • 6-month or 200-gallon rating per filter

Warranty 90 days

LG LT1000P3 — genuine LT1000P 3-pack, ADQ74793501, 6 mo / 200 gal each, 90-day warranty

The Largest Genuine Water-Only Pack on the Shelf

LG sells the bare LT1000P in a single, a two-pack and this three-pack on the shelf we pulled. The three-pack is the largest genuine water-only option, covering about 18 months at LG’s 6-month interval.

It is the same cartridge as pick 1, and the listing names genuine LG part ADQ74793501 to make that clear. It repeats LG’s reduction claims for cysts, asbestos, mercury, lead and benzene, but says only “NSF-certified” rather than listing 42, 53 and 401. Check the box for the standard marks when it arrives.

The warranty stated here is 90 days, against one year for the single pack. For most buyers, that difference matters less than the convenience of having the next two filters on hand.

Pros

  • Three genuine cartridges in one order
  • Genuine part number stated
  • Same reduction claims as the single

Cons

  • Standard numbers not repeated in listing
  • Only a 90-day warranty stated
  • No air filter included

LG LT1000P + LT120F — genuine 1-pack water and air bundle, NSF 42/53/401, 6 mo / 200 gal

The Only Genuine Listing Here That Adds the Air Filter

Of the four genuine listings on this shelf, this is the only one that includes LG’s LT120F fresh-air filter. If your fridge has that slot, both filters run on a similar schedule, and changing them together keeps their reminders aligned. Our LG brand page ranks the larger two-pack version of this bundle.

The listing is detailed. It explains what each NSF standard covers, names the styles of LG fridge it fits, gives a flushing volume of 2 to 3 gallons, and describes the quarter-turn install. That makes it the most useful set of instructions among the genuine listings.

It also says the indicator light tells you when replacement is needed. In practice that light counts time from the last reset; it does not measure the water. Reset it every time.

Pros

  • Genuine water and air filters together
  • NSF 42, 53 and 401 named
  • Install and flushing details stated

Cons

  • Warranty term not stated
  • One water filter only
  • Pointless if your fridge has no air-filter slot

Amazon Basics EFF-6046 — LT1000P-compatible 3-pack, NSF 42 and 372, coconut carbon, no air filters

The Only Compatible Sold Without Air Filters

Six of the seven compatible LT1000P listings on this shelf are combos that bundle air filters or list LT120F-series air-filter parts. This Amazon Basics three-pack is the only one sold as water filters alone. If your fridge has no fresh-air slot, or you already have spare air filters, you are not paying for parts you will not use.

Its claims are modest and clear: certified to NSF 42 and 372, reduces chlorine, taste and odor, made from lead-free materials. It does not claim heavy-metal or PFAS reduction, which keeps it consistent with what those two standards cover.

The gaps are capacity and warranty, neither stated. Plan on LG’s 6-month interval. Like every compatible here, it does not name 53 or 401, and LG says third-party filters are not covered under its warranty.

Pros

  • Certified to NSF 42 and 372
  • Water-only pack with no extras
  • LG and Kenmore part numbers listed

Cons

  • No gallon capacity stated
  • No warranty stated
  • No NSF 53 or 401

5. AQUA CREST AQF-FF46 — Best Certified Compatible Combo

AQUA CREST AQF-FF46 — LT1000P-compatible 3+3 water and air combo, 200 gal / 6 mo, NSF/ANSI 42 and 372

A Compatible Combo That Matches LG’s Gallon Rating

Compatible LT1000P listings on this shelf that state a capacity give either 200 or 300 gallons. AQUA CREST states 200, the same figure as LG, rather than claiming more. Along with NSF/ANSI 42 and 372 by number, that makes it one of the more grounded combo listings.

It goes further in its marketing than its certifications do. It calls itself lead-reducing and mentions PFOA and PFOS, while the standards it names cover taste and odor plus lead-free materials. Those extra claims rest on a third-party lab mention, not on NSF/ANSI 53 or 401. Read it as a taste-and-odor filter.

The value case is the 3+3 combo, which covers both water and air filters for about 18 months at a 6-month interval. No warranty is stated.

Pros

  • Names NSF/ANSI 42 and 372
  • Water and air filters together
  • Capacity matches LG’s rating

Cons

  • Lead and PFAS claims exceed its named certifications
  • No warranty stated
  • Not covered under LG’s warranty, per LG

LT1000P capacity, timing and the filter light

Every genuine LT1000P listing on this shelf states 200 gallons; most add 6 months, and LG’s single-pack listing suggests 3 to 6 months. One compatible, ramco, claims 300 gallons. Change the filter at whichever limit you hit first.

The filter light on an LG fridge is a timer that counts from the last reset. None of these listings describe a sensor that reads the water. If you reset the light without changing the cartridge, or change the cartridge without resetting the light, the reminder is wrong. Write the install date on the cartridge, or use the stickers some compatibles include. Our guide to how carbon water filters work explains why performance fades as the carbon loads up.

Installing an LT1000P without leaks

LG’s bundle listings describe a quarter-turn twist-and-lock install, no tools, followed by running 2 to 3 gallons through the dispenser to clear carbon fines. A few habits make the change cleaner:

  • Keep a towel under the housing; a little water escapes when the old cartridge comes out.
  • Line up the cartridge, push it in and turn until it stops firmly.
  • Flush the stated volume before drinking from the dispenser.
  • Check for drips at the housing over the next day.
  • Reset the filter reminder.

The CDC recommends changing filters on the manufacturer’s schedule and wearing gloves while you do it, then washing your hands. Leaks at the housing are the main risk with any filter, genuine or compatible. The EPA estimates household leaks waste nearly 1 trillion gallons of water a year nationwide, and a slow drip under a fridge can damage flooring before anyone notices.

What an LT1000P does on Front Range water

The CDC notes that refrigerator filters often use activated carbon and are mainly meant to improve taste and smell, and that most are not designed to remove germs. For Denver-area homes on municipal water, the annual water quality report your utility publishes under EPA rules is the best way to see what is in your supply before choosing a filter.

Lead depends on the house. The EPA says lead pipes are more likely in homes built before 1986, and brass fixtures and lead solder are common sources in homes without a lead service line. In an older Front Range home, the genuine LT1000P’s stated NSF 53 certification is a real reason to choose it over the 42-and-372 compatibles. Our guide to lead-reducing water filters covers other options.

On a private well, common in Elbert County and rural parts of Douglas and El Paso counties, the CDC advises testing at least once a year and before choosing a filter. A fridge cartridge only treats one tap.

For LG’s other cartridges, including the LT500P, see our LG refrigerator water filter guide. For the bigger picture, read our explainer on how refrigerator water filters work and our roundup of the best refrigerator water filters across brands.

When the cartridge is not the problem

A new LT1000P restores taste and resets the reminder. It will not cure low supply pressure, a kinked line, a failing inlet valve or a cracked housing. If a correctly installed new filter still leaks or the dispenser stays slow, call an appliance technician or plumber; our plumbing and water hiring guide explains how to vet one.

Frequently asked questions

Is LT1000P the same as ADQ74793501?

Yes. LG's single-pack LT1000P listing names ADQ74793501, ADQ75795105, AGF80300704 and AGF80300705 as the same filter, and the LT1000P3 three-pack names ADQ74793501 as its genuine part. Compatibles also list LT1000PC, LT1000PCS and MDJ64844601.

Will an LT1000P fit a Kenmore refrigerator?

Some, per the compatible listings, which name Kenmore 46-9980, 9980 and related part numbers. Check the part number on your current Kenmore cartridge. If it matches one of those numbers, the LT1000P family is the match.

Are LT1000P compatibles certified for lead?

Not the ones in this comparison. The certified compatibles name NSF 42 and 372, which cover taste and odor plus lead-free materials. The genuine LG LT1000P listings name NSF 53, the standard for health contaminants such as lead and cysts, along with 42 and 401.

How often should the LG LT1000P be replaced?

LG's listings say 6 months or 200 gallons, and LG's single-pack listing suggests every 3 to 6 months. Change it at whichever limit comes first, and remember that the fridge light counts time since reset rather than measuring water quality.

Do I need the LT120F air filter bundle?

Only if your LG fridge has a fresh-air filter slot. The LT120F handles odors inside the fridge and does nothing for water. If you have no slot, a water-only pack such as LG's LT1000P3 or the Amazon Basics three-pack avoids paying for parts you will not use.
