The GoveeLife Smart Water Leak Detector 1s kit pairs three battery-powered floor sensors with a Wi-Fi gateway, so a leak under a sink or beside a water heater triggers a loud local alarm and an alert on your phone. It suits homeowners who travel, own a rental or have a finished basement where a slow leak could go unseen for days. The standout claim is reach: Sub-1G long-range radio rated up to 1,804 feet, plus app, email and free SMS notifications.

GoveeLife H5059 + H5044 — three IP67 smart leak sensors and gateway with long-range radio, 105 dB alarm and app/email/SMS alerts.

How It Compares

Remote alerts with long-range radio, matched on this shelf only by its own larger packs and one YoLink kit

The 18 similar listings compared here include several refrigerant and gas leak tools, which do a different job and are set aside. Of the nine water leak listings, only three claim both long-range radio and app, email or text notifications: two larger packs of this same GoveeLife 1s sensor (five and six sensors) and the YoLink Leak Sensor 4 kit with a hub. The Ring Flood & Freeze Sensor also alerts your phone, but it relies on Amazon Sidewalk rather than its own gateway.

The rest are standalone alarms. The METAK, STECHRO and RUIKORING units sound locally, and two of those listings state outright that they have no Wi-Fi or app connection, so nobody hears them if the house is empty. One more GoveeLife five-pack uses the same 105 dB alarm but notes that it cannot join the app without a separate gateway.

The one gap that matters most in Colorado is freezing. Among the water sensors on this shelf, only the Ring listing promises a warning when temperatures drop below 40°F; this GoveeLife listing makes no temperature claim. It also does not say whether the five-year battery can be replaced.

Who It’s For — and Who Should Skip It

This kit is a strong fit for owners of vacation homes in the mountains, rentals, or large houses where a sensor in a detached garage or far basement corner needs to reach the gateway. Three sensors cover the classic trio of water heater, washing machine and kitchen sink. Skip it if your router is 5GHz-only, if you want automatic water shutoff, or if freeze warnings matter more to you than leak alerts.

Using It at Home

  • Set the gateway near your router and confirm it joins a 2.4GHz network before placing sensors.
  • Place sensors flat on the floor beside the water heater, under the kitchen sink and behind the washer; a fourth spot worth covering is the basement floor drain or sump area.
  • Add family members’ email addresses in the app so someone gets the alert when you are away.
  • Test each sensor with a damp paper towel, then wipe it dry.

Front Range basements are where slow leaks hide: finished walls, carpet over slab, and water heaters tucked in closets. An alert is only the start; water that has wicked into drywall or carpet can feed mold within days. If a sensor fires repeatedly in the same spot, or you find staining or a musty smell, contact us about a moisture or mold inspection, and call a plumber for the source.

Pros

  • Phone, email and free SMS alerts
  • Long-range radio for distant rooms and outbuildings
  • Loud, adjustable 105 dB local alarm
  • IP67 sensors survive submersion

Cons

  • No freeze or temperature alerts claimed
  • Gateway needs 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
  • Battery replaceability not stated
  • No automatic shutoff valve support mentioned
