The best cordless vacuum is the one you actually grab every day, and that keeps the dust it picks up instead of puffing the finest particles back out the exhaust. Cordless vacuums win on convenience: no cord to drag between rooms, a hand-vac mode for stairs and sofas, and a wall dock that keeps them ready. They lose on battery life and, on the cheapest models, on filtration claims that sound impressive but say very little. This guide reads every listing the way a home-inspection site reads a spec sheet: what is stated, what is measured, and what is missing. Below are seven picks, each for a specific household, then a buying guide on suction units, runtime, sealed filtration and battery care.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

How we compared: we compared 13 current Amazon cordless vacuum listings covering 12 distinct models (one model appears in two colors). All are stick-style cordless vacuums that convert to a handheld. We compared what each listing states about suction, runtime by mode, filtration, dust-cup size, battery design, weight and warranty. We did not lab-test or handle any of them. Prices and availability change often, so check the current listing before buying.

The 7 picks, compared listing by listing

1. Shark PowerPro Reveal Plus IZ376H — Best for Allergy Households

Best for allergy householdsShark PowerPro Reveal Plus IZ376H

Cordless stick with an Anti-Allergen Complete Seal and HEPA filtration, FloorDetect and a self-cleaning brushroll.

Check price on Amazon$199.99 as of Oct 20, 2026 7:01 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • States a complete seal, not just a HEPA filter
  • FloorDetect adjusts brushroll speed by floor
  • Self-cleaning brushroll resists hair wrap
  • Converts to a hand vac with two tools
Specification Details
Filtration Anti-Allergen Complete Seal with HEPA filtration
Floor sensing FloorDetect senses carpet or hard floor and adjusts brushroll speed
Runtime Up to 40 minutes, measured at the handheld in standard mode
Brushroll Self-cleaning PowerFins brushroll
Tools 8 in crevice tool and upholstery tool; LED headlights
Weight 7.89 lb

Shark IZ376H — Anti-Allergen Complete Seal + HEPA, FloorDetect, PowerFins self-cleaning brushroll, up to 40 min (handheld, standard), 7.89 lb

The Only Listing That Pairs a Named Whole-Vacuum Seal With Automatic Floor Sensing

Seven of the 12 models use the word HEPA somewhere, so the word alone tells you little. What matters for indoor air is whether the whole machine is sealed, so air cannot leak around the filter. The IZ376H describes an Anti-Allergen Complete Seal with HEPA filtration that keeps dust and allergens out of the air. The Bissell 4039 and the Clinkal also describe sealed HEPA systems, but the Shark is the only listing that combines a named seal with FloorDetect, which changes brushroll speed between carpet and hard floor on its own.

Read the runtime carefully. The 40-minute figure is footnoted as measured at the handheld in standard mode, which means without the motorized floor head. Expect less when cleaning floors. That is honest of the listing, and more transparent than many budget models that quote a no-load or lowest-mode figure without saying so.

It does not give a suction figure, a dust-cup volume or a battery specification, and it does not say whether the battery is removable. If a swappable battery matters, the Bissell 4039 below states it.

Pros

  • Named complete seal with HEPA filtration
  • Automatic brushroll adjustment by floor type
  • Self-cleaning brushroll for pet hair
  • Runtime footnote explains how it was measured

Cons

  • Runtime measured without the floor head
  • No suction or dust-cup figures stated
  • Battery removability not stated
  • Heaviest of the seven picks at 7.89 lb

2. Bissell PowerClean FurGuard 4039 — Best for Long Hair and Shedding Pets

Best for long hair and petsBissell PowerClean FurGuard 4039

Check price on Amazon$299.99 as of Oct 20, 2026 6:43 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • Brushroll claim covers hair up to 16 inches
  • HEPA sealed allergen system
  • Removable lithium-ion battery
  • Stands on its own while charging
Specification Details
Motor 280 W motor (a power rating, not a suction measurement)
Runtime Up to 50 minutes in low mode; 13 minutes in turbo
Brushroll FurGuard self-cleaning; resists wrap from hair up to 16 in long
Filtration HEPA sealed allergen system
Battery Removable lithium-ion
Weight / storage 7.3 lb; self-standing plus wall mount

Bissell 4039 — 280 W motor, 50 min low / 13 min turbo, FurGuard brushroll (hair to 16 in), HEPA sealed system, removable battery, 7.3 lb

The Only Listing That Puts a Length on the Hair It Handles

Eleven of the 12 models make some anti-tangle or anti-wrap claim, usually a V-shaped brush or comb. The 4039 is the only listing that quantifies it, saying the FurGuard brushroll prevents wrap from hair up to 16 inches long. Long human hair is what defeats most brushrolls, so a stated length is more useful than a generic promise.

It also gives both ends of its runtime range: 50 minutes in low mode and 13 minutes in turbo. Of the listings that quote a turbo or max figure, the spread on this shelf runs roughly 12 to 25 minutes, so plan your deep-carpet passes around the short number.

The 280 W figure is a motor rating, not suction, and it cannot be compared with the kPa numbers other listings print. The listing does not give a dust-cup volume. It is one of six models whose listings describe a removable or detachable battery, which is the feature that most extends a cordless vacuum’s useful life.

Pros

  • Quantified hair-wrap claim
  • Sealed HEPA allergen system
  • Removable battery
  • Both low and turbo runtimes stated

Cons

  • Only 13 minutes in turbo
  • No dust-cup volume stated
  • No suction figure, only motor watts

3. Levoit LVAC-200 — Best for Dust Under Furniture

Best for under-furniture dustLevoit LVAC-200

Lightweight cordless stick that lies 180 degrees flat, with 5-stage filtration tested per ASTM F1977-22 to 0.3 microns.

Check price on Amazon$139.94 as of Oct 20, 2026 6:43 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • Lies fully flat under beds and sofas
  • Only listing naming a filtration test method
  • Runtime stated separately for floor head and tools
  • Extra genuine battery sold to double runtime
Specification Details
Filtration 5-stage; captures 99.9% of particles to 0.3 microns, tested per ASTM F1977-22
Runtime 50 min with crevice or pet tool (Eco); 30 min with vacuum head; 12 min Turbo
Design Lies 180 degrees flat; 3 LED lights
Battery Spare genuine battery available for double runtime
Use limits Dry messes only
Weight 6.17 lb

Levoit LVAC-200 — 5-stage filtration (99.9% at 0.3 µm per ASTM F1977-22), 180-degree lay-flat, 30 min with head / 12 min Turbo, 6.17 lb

The Only Listing That Names the Test Behind Its Filtration Claim

Most filtration claims on this shelf are a percentage and a particle size with no method behind them. The LVAC-200 is the only one of the 12 models that names a test method, ASTM F1977-22, for its claim of 99.9% capture at 0.3 microns. That is not a HEPA claim (HEPA is 99.97% at 0.3 microns), and the listing does not call it HEPA. It is, however, the most verifiable filtration statement among these listings.

It is also the only listing that says it lies 180 degrees flat. Dust and pet hair collect under beds and couches, out of sight and out of reach of most upright stick heads. If you have low furniture, this is the one designed for it.

The runtime breakdown is the most candid on the shelf: 30 minutes with the motorized vacuum head, 50 minutes only when using a tool in Eco mode, 12 in Turbo. Many competitors quote only the longest figure. The listing does not give a suction number, and it says the vacuum is for dry messes only.

Pros

  • Named test method for its filtration claim
  • Lies fully flat under furniture
  • Most candid runtime breakdown
  • Spare battery option

Cons

  • Not a HEPA claim
  • Only 30 minutes with the floor head
  • No suction figure
  • Filter replacement every 3 months recommended

NADALY A13 — 55 kPa, 650 W, 1.8L cup, 70/40/20 min by mode, five-stage sealed filtration, self-standing, 2-yr warranty

The Biggest Stated Dust Cup of the 12 Models

Every time you empty a dust cup, some of what it caught goes back into the air. A bigger cup means fewer of those moments. Dust-cup volumes stated on this shelf run from 1.3 liters (Tikom) and 1.5 liters (KARDV, PERSAVE and VOKENE) up to 1.8 liters here, the largest. Several listings, including the Shark, Bissell and Levoit, give no volume at all.

The runtime is also given for each mode: 70, 40 and 20 minutes. That lets you plan honestly, and the 20-minute Max figure is in line with the turbo numbers on other listings.

Treat the filtration claim with caution. A 99.99% figure at 0.1 micron is a strong claim, but the listing names no test method and does not call the filter HEPA. It is also limited to low-pile carpet by its own description, so it is not the tool for shag or thick rugs.

Pros

  • Largest stated dust cup on the shelf
  • Runtime stated for every mode
  • Self-standing and converts to handheld
  • 2-year warranty

Cons

  • Filtration claim has no named test
  • Weight not stated
  • Rated for low-pile carpet only

5. JELLYPIG X100 — Best for Maintenance Reminders

Best for maintenance remindersJELLYPIG X100

Self-standing cordless stick whose touch screen shows battery, dust-cup fullness and filter maintenance status.

Check price on Amazon$139.99 as of Oct 20, 2026 7:01 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • Screen flags a full dust cup and filter care
  • Up to 70 minutes on low, conditions stated
  • Self-standing between rooms
  • Clear maintenance schedule in the listing
Specification Details
Suction Up to 55,000 Pa (55 kPa); 650 W brushless motor
Runtime Up to 70 min on low; no-load, room temperature, new battery
Display LED touch screen: suction, battery, dust-cup fullness, filter maintenance
Battery 8 x 2800 mAh pack
Maintenance Empty cup each use; clean HEPA filter, tube and roller every 1 to 2 weeks
Weight 6.3 lb

JELLYPIG X100 — 55 kPa, 650 W, up to 70 min (low, no-load), touch screen with cup-full and filter alerts, self-standing, 6.3 lb

The Only Display That Reports Dust-Cup Fullness and Filter Maintenance

Eight of the 12 models have a screen or display of some kind. Most show battery and suction mode. A few add warnings: the Tikom shows malfunction alerts, the VOKENE shows blockage reminders and the Clinkal flags general maintenance. The X100 is the only listing whose screen is described as showing both dust-cup fullness and filter maintenance. A clogged filter or overfull cup cuts airflow and pushes dust past seals, so a prompt to deal with both is a real indoor-air feature.

The listing is also unusually frank about its runtime test: 70 minutes on low, with no load, at room temperature, on a new fully charged battery. That is a lab best case. With the floor head running on carpet, expect much less.

It mentions a HEPA filter in its maintenance advice but makes no capture claim and does not describe a sealed system. It does not state whether the battery pack is removable.

Pros

  • Cup-full and filter-maintenance alerts
  • Runtime test conditions disclosed
  • Self-standing design
  • Clear cleaning schedule

Cons

  • No filtration capture claim
  • Runtime is a no-load figure
  • Battery removability not stated

6. Tikom V500 — Best Wall Dock With a Detachable Battery

Best wall dock and detachable batteryTikom V500

Cordless stick that charges on a wall dock or with the battery removed, with a 1.3L cup and a color status display.

Check price on Amazon$79.99 as of Oct 20, 2026 7:01 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • Charge on the dock or battery alone
  • Wall dock doubles as storage
  • Display shows malfunction warnings
  • Head swivels 90 and 180 degrees
Specification Details
Suction 40 kPa stated; 450 W motor
Battery / charging 6 x 2000 mAh; detach to charge separately or charge on the wall dock
Dust cup 1.3L, one-touch emptying
Filtration 7-stage HEPA cyclone system; 99.99% of microscopic dust claimed
Runtime Not stated in listing
Weight 5.5 lb

Tikom V500 — 40 kPa, 450 W, detachable 6 x 2000 mAh battery, wall dock, 1.3L cup, 7-stage HEPA cyclone, 5.5 lb

The Only Listing Describing Both Dock Charging and Off-Vacuum Battery Charging

Five of the 12 models describe a wall mount or wall charger, and six describe a removable or detachable battery. The V500 is the one that spells out both charging routes: hang the whole vacuum on its wall dock, or pull the battery and charge it on its own. That flexibility lets you buy a second battery and keep one charging while the other runs, the simplest way to get past a short turbo runtime.

The gap is runtime itself. This listing gives no minutes at all, the only one of the 12 models that leaves runtime out entirely. Its filtration claim, 99.99% of microscopic dust, gives no particle size and no test method.

The model appears on the shelf in two color versions with identical bullets; we picked one. At 5.5 lb it is one of the lighter picks.

Pros

  • Two ways to charge the battery
  • Wall dock for storage
  • Light at 5.5 lb
  • Status display with fault warnings

Cons

  • No runtime stated at all
  • Filtration claim has no particle size
  • Smallest stated dust cup here

7. NuYupo DHC100 — Best Light Weight Plus a Vent Tool

Best lightweight with vent toolNuYupo DHC100

Why we like it

  • Under 5 lb stated
  • Dryer vent cleaner tool included
  • Spare HEPA filter set in the box
  • 2-year warranty
Specification Details
Motor / suction 480 W brushless motor; no suction figure stated

Tools Combination brush, pet hair brush, dryer vent cleaner
Storage Wall-mounted charger; self-standing
Weight / warranty Under 5 lb; 2-year warranty

NuYupo DHC100 — 480 W, 45 min Eco, detachable battery, 6-stage filtration + spare HEPA set, dryer vent tool, under 5 lb, 2-yr warranty

The Only Pick That Ships With Both a Spare Filter Set and a Dryer Vent Tool

Filters are where cordless vacuums quietly lose performance. The listing recommends cleaning the HEPA filter every two to three weeks and replacing it every three months, and it includes an extra filter set so you can rotate. Two listings on the shelf mention dryer vents, this one (a vent cleaner tool) and the PERSAVE P70 (a long hose); the DHC100 is the only one of the two that also includes spare filters.

At under 5 lb by its own description, it is among the lightest models here, which helps on stairs and for anyone with wrist or back strain. Weight is where cordless sticks differ most from uprights, and lighter usually means smaller motors and shorter runtime.

A handheld vent tool is useful for lint at the dryer’s filter housing and the first few inches of duct, but it is not a full vent cleaning. The 99.97% claim is stated without a particle size or test method, and the 45-minute runtime is an Eco-mode figure.

Pros

  • Light, under 5 lb
  • Spare HEPA filter set included
  • Detachable battery
  • 2-year warranty

Cons

  • Filtration claim lacks particle size and method
  • No suction figure
  • Runtime is an Eco-mode figure

Suction numbers: kPa, watts and why they rarely compare

Seven of the 12 models print a suction figure in kPa, from 40 to 55 kPa. Others give a motor wattage (the Bissell’s 280 W, the NuYupo’s 480 W), and the Shark and Levoit give no number. None of the 12 states air watts, the airflow-based figure some premium makers use. Pressure, motor power and airflow are different measurements, and the listings do not say how theirs were measured, so a 55 kPa budget stick is not proven stronger than a Shark that publishes nothing.

What predicts real-world pickup better: a motorized brushroll that suits your floors, a head that seals against the floor, and a filter and cup that stay clean so airflow does not drop. Brands that list fewer numbers often describe these features more specifically.

Runtime: read the fine print

Every runtime here is a best case. The listings that explain their figures make it clear: the Shark measures at the handheld, the Levoit gives 30 minutes with the floor head and 50 only with a tool, and the JELLYPIG tests with no load on a new battery. Turbo or max figures on this shelf run from about 12 to 25 minutes. Plan on that number for carpet and the low-mode number for quick hard-floor passes.

Lithium-ion batteries also lose capacity with age, so a vacuum that delivers 30 minutes in its first year will deliver less later. A removable battery is the feature that keeps a cordless vacuum useful past that point. When a battery does reach the end, the EPA says lithium-ion batteries should not go in household trash or curbside recycling; take them to a battery recycler or household hazardous waste site, with terminals taped.

Filtration: HEPA, sealed systems and indoor air

The EPA defines a HEPA filter as one able to remove at least 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns. A vacuum can contain a HEPA filter and still leak dust if air escapes around it through gaps in the body; that is why sealed systems matter. On this shelf, the Shark (Complete Seal), the Bissell (HEPA sealed allergen system) and the Clinkal (sealed HEPA) describe sealing as well as HEPA. Many budget listings print 99.99% figures with no method; the Levoit is the only one that names a test standard.

The EPA’s asthma-trigger guidance recommends vacuuming carpets and upholstered furniture weekly with a HEPA-filtered vacuum, and says people with asthma or allergies should leave the area while it is being vacuumed. EPA guidance on biological contaminants adds that household dust can carry mold, pollen, dust mite and pet allergens, and that people with allergies may need to clean more often. A cordless stick makes frequent short cleans easy. For a deeper look at sealed machines, see our HEPA vacuum comparison, and for dander that stays airborne, our guide to air purifiers for pet homes.

Cordless vs stick vs upright: which one fits your home

All 12 models here are cordless sticks, and that format suits daily pickups, hard floors, apartments and stairs. A corded stick trades the battery for unlimited runtime and less long-term upkeep; our stick vacuum guide covers corded and cordless models side by side. For wall-to-wall carpet, a full weekly deep clean is often better done with an upright, and our upright vacuum roundup compares those.

On the Front Range, dry winter air keeps dust light and easily stirred, and static helps pet hair cling to rugs. Grit and de-icer residue come in on boots from November to April. A cordless stick near the entry door, used daily, keeps that grit from being ground into floors. During wildfire smoke events, keep windows closed and favor sealed HEPA machines for any vacuuming you do.

When a cordless vacuum is the wrong tool

A household vacuum should not be used on everything. The EPA advises homeowners not to dust, sweep or vacuum debris that may contain asbestos, which in older homes can come from damaged popcorn ceilings, vinyl floor tile or pipe insulation. Our asbestos cleaning guide explains what to do instead. In homes built before 1978, the EPA says to use only HEPA-filtered vacuums, and not to dry sweep, where there is visible dust or debris from chipping paint; see our page on lead paint dust before cleaning windowsills or a renovation area.

If dust returns within a day of cleaning, if there is a musty smell, or if a family member’s allergy symptoms worsen at home, the source may be the house rather than the floors: leaky ducts, a dirty furnace filter, moisture or mold. Our guide to hiring a home inspector covers what an inspection looks at, and Front Range homeowners can get in touch here to connect with a qualified local inspector.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best cordless vacuum for allergies?

Look for a listing that describes a sealed system as well as a HEPA filter, because a HEPA filter only helps if air cannot leak around it. Of the 13 listings compared here, the Shark IZ376H, Bissell 4039 and Clinkal describe sealed HEPA filtration, with the Shark adding automatic floor sensing.

How long does a cordless vacuum battery really last?

Expect the turbo or max figure, often 12 to 25 minutes on this shelf, when cleaning carpet with the motorized head, and the low-mode figure only for light hard-floor passes. Batteries also lose capacity with age, so a removable, replaceable battery extends the vacuum's life.

Is higher kPa suction always better?

No. Suction figures are measured differently by different makers and are not directly comparable, and some top brands publish no number at all. Brushroll design, floor-head seal and a clean filter matter as much for real pickup.

Can a cordless vacuum replace a full-size vacuum?

For apartments, hard floors and homes with only area rugs, often yes. Homes with wall-to-wall carpet usually benefit from a weekly pass with an upright or corded vacuum in addition to daily cordless cleanups.

How do I dispose of an old cordless vacuum battery?

Do not put lithium-ion batteries in household trash or curbside recycling. EPA guidance is to take them to a battery recycler or household hazardous waste collection point, with the terminals taped to prevent fires.
