The best stick vacuum is a full-length, lightweight vacuum you can grab for a two-minute kitchen pickup and still trust on the stairs and area rugs. The first decision is one most shoppers skip: corded or cordless. A cordless stick is the most convenient tool in the closet until its battery fades; a corded stick runs as long as you need, never needs a replacement battery and often costs less, but it tethers you to an outlet. This guide covers both, read through an indoor-air lens: which listings state real filtration, which ones are lightest, and which ones run longest. Below are seven picks, each matched to a specific home, then a buying guide on filtration, weight, cords and batteries.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

How we compared: we compared 13 current Amazon stick vacuum listings covering 11 distinct models, eight corded listings and five cordless. All are full-length stick vacuums, most of which convert to a handheld. We compared what each listing states about filtration, brushroll, dust cup, cord length or runtime, weight and warranty. We did not lab-test or handle any of these vacuums. Where a listing leaves a spec out, we say so. Prices and availability change often, so check the current listing before buying.

Weight 7.05 lb

Shark IY143H — cordless, HEPA + Complete Seal (99.97%+), FloorDetect, self-cleaning Turbo Pro brushroll, up to 40 min, 7.05 lb

The Only Stick on This Shelf That States a HEPA Capture Figure and a Seal

Three of the 11 models mention HEPA at all: this Shark, the cordless JELLYPIG and the corded Intercleaner. The IY143H is the only one that gives a capture figure, over 99.97% of dust and allergens, and pairs it with a Complete Seal so air cannot bypass the filter. The EPA’s definition of HEPA is at least 99.97% capture at 0.3 microns, so this is the claim that lines up with the standard.

For indoor air, the seal matters as much as the filter. A vacuum that leaks around its filter blows fine dust back into the room even if the filter itself is excellent. None of the corded sticks on this shelf describe a sealed system, and only one of them, the Intercleaner below, mentions HEPA at all, without a capture figure.

It also brings FloorDetect, which senses carpet or hard floor and changes brushroll speed on its own; no other stick on the shelf describes automatic floor sensing. The listing gives no dust-cup volume, and the 40-minute figure carries a footnote marker without saying which mode it applies to, so expect less on carpet.

Pros

  • HEPA capture figure plus a Complete Seal
  • Automatic floor sensing
  • Self-cleaning brushroll
  • Removable handheld

Cons

  • Dust-cup volume not stated
  • Runtime mode not specified
  • Battery removability not stated

Warranty 5-year limited

Shark Rocket Pet Plus HV322 — corded, handheld conversion, swivel steering, LED headlights, 0.68 qt cup, 8.6 lb, 5-yr limited warranty

One of Only Two Sticks With a 5-Year Warranty Stated

Warranty length is one of the few specs that tells you something about expected lifespan. Most listings here state one year or nothing. Two Shark corded Rocket models, this HV322 and the HV371, state five years, and because there is no battery to wear out, a corded stick is the format most likely to last that long.

The listing describes deep carpet cleaning, low-profile reach under furniture and LED headlights that show dust in dim corners. Those are the jobs a battery stick struggles with when its runtime runs down on carpet. Cord length is not stated, which is a strange omission for a corded vacuum; plan on moving the plug between rooms.

What it lacks is any filtration description. The listing names no HEPA filter and no sealed system, so it is a good carpet tool but not the pick for an allergy household. If dust sensitivity is your priority, the IY143H above makes the specific claim this one does not.

Pros

  • Unlimited runtime on a cord
  • 5-year limited warranty
  • Handheld conversion and pet tool
  • LED headlights and swivel steering

Cons

  • No filtration claim
  • Cord length not stated
  • Small 0.68-quart cup
  • Heavier than the lightweight corded sticks

3. Shark Rocket Turbo TV301 — Best Corded Stick for Long Hair

Best corded stick for long hairShark Rocket Turbo TV301

  • Low-profile nozzle reaches under furniture
  • Detaches to a handheld
Specification Details

Weight 8.11 lb listed; under 10 lb without cord and accessories
Warranty / filtration Not stated in listing

Shark Rocket Turbo TV301 — corded, self-cleaning turbo brushroll, handheld conversion, swivel steering, low-profile nozzle, 8.11 lb

The Only Corded Stick on the Shelf With a Self-Cleaning Brushroll

Two sticks on this shelf describe a self-cleaning brushroll: the cordless Shark IY143H and this corded TV301. Among the corded models, it is the only one. A brushroll wrapped in hair stops agitating carpet and sends more debris skidding across hard floors, so self-cleaning matters in any house with long hair or shedding pets.

It is a newer listing than the HV322, released in 2026, and shares the Rocket design: swivel steering, a slim nozzle and a hand vac that clips to the wand for freestanding storage.

The listing does not state a warranty, a cord length or a dust-cup size, and like the other corded Rockets it makes no filtration claim. Choose it over the HV322 if hair wrap is your daily problem; choose the HV322 if the stated 5-year warranty is the tiebreaker.

Pros

  • Self-cleaning brushroll on a corded stick
  • Handheld conversion
  • Slim nozzle for under furniture

Cons

  • No warranty length stated
  • No filtration claim
  • Cord length and cup volume not stated

4. Bissell Featherweight 2033 — Best Lightest Stick for Quick Pickups

Lightest stick for quick pickupsBissell Featherweight 2033

Ultra-light corded stick that converts to a hand or stair vacuum, with a 15-foot cord and a clear 0.67 L dirt cup.

Check price on Amazon$29.98 as of Oct 20, 2026 5:39 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • 2.6 lb, lightest listed weight here
  • Stick, hand and stair vac in one
  • 15 ft cord, no battery to replace
  • Clear cup shows when it is full
Specification Details
Power Corded; 15 ft cord
Weight 2.6 lb listed (under 4 lb claimed)
Dust cup 0.67 L, transparent, bagless
Floors Sealed hard floors, area rugs, low-pile carpet
Tools Crevice tool; floor nozzle for stairs
Warranty / filtration Limited 1 year; filter type not stated

Bissell Featherweight 2033 — corded electric broom, 2.6 lb, 15 ft cord, 0.67 L clear cup, stick/hand/stair modes, 1-yr limited warranty

The Lightest Stated Weight of the 11 Models

Weights on this shelf run from about 8 to 9 pounds for the Shark Rocket corded models, around 5 to 7 pounds for the cordless sticks, and as low as 2.6 pounds for this Featherweight. The 2033 is the lightest by stated weight; the black 2033M version of the same design lists 3.64 pounds. For anyone with a bad back or wrists, or who simply wants to carry a vacuum up a flight of stairs, that difference is real.

It works as an electric broom: quick, light passes on sealed hard floors and area rugs, with a nozzle that doubles for stairs. The listing does not describe a brushroll, and it is aimed at surface debris on low-pile carpet, not deep carpet cleaning.

It names no filter type, so it is not the pick for allergy-sensitive homes. Empty the 0.67-liter cup outdoors or straight into a trash bag to keep the finest dust out of the room.

Pros

  • Lightest stated weight on the shelf
  • Three modes in one tool
  • Corded, so no battery to replace

Cons

  • No brushroll or filter type described
  • Surface cleaning only on carpet
  • Small cup

5. Eureka Blaze NES210 — Best for the Longest Stated Cord

Best for longest stated cordEureka Blaze NES210

4-pound corded 3-in-1 stick with an 18-foot cord, swivel steering, a capture nozzle and a washable filter.

Check price on Amazon$30.59 as of Oct 20, 2026 5:58 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • 18 ft cord, longest stated here
  • Capture nozzle picks up larger debris
  • Washable filter, no replacement cost
  • About 4 lb
Specification Details
Power Corded; 18 ft cord; 240 W, 2 amp motor
Nozzle Capture nozzle for larger debris; 9.44 in cleaning path
Filtration Washable filtration system; grade not stated
Dust cup XL dust cup; volume not stated
Weight 3.97 lb
Warranty 1-year limited

Eureka Blaze NES210 — corded 3-in-1, 18 ft cord, 240 W, capture nozzle, swivel steering, washable filter, 3.97 lb, 1-yr limited warranty

The Longest Cord Any Listing States

Only three models on this shelf state a cord length: the Bissell 2033 family at 15 feet, the Intercleaner at 16.4 feet and this Eureka at 18 feet. A longer cord means fewer outlet changes and less temptation to stretch the cord taut across a doorway. The Shark corded models do not say.

The capture nozzle is the other distinguishing detail. Light stick heads tend to push bigger crumbs and gravel ahead of them; the listing describes a nozzle designed to pick those up instead. That suits entryways where boots track in grit.

The filter is washable, which saves replacement costs, but the listing does not grade it. A washed filter must be fully dry before going back in, or it can grow mold and lose airflow. A second Eureka Blaze, the NES215A, is on the shelf with similar bullets but no cord length stated; we chose the one that states it.

Pros

  • Longest stated cord on the shelf
  • Capture nozzle for larger debris
  • Washable filter
  • Light at about 4 lb

Cons

  • Filter grade not stated
  • Dust-cup volume not stated
  • Best for hard floors and low pile only

6. Intercleaner VC1701 — Best Accessory Kit for the Money

Best accessory kitIntercleaner VC1701

3-pound corded stick with 11 accessories, a 16.4-foot cord, 15 kPa stated suction and two spare washable HEPA filters.

Check price on Amazon$35.99 as of Oct 20, 2026 5:58 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • 11 accessories for crevices, sills and sofas
  • Two spare washable HEPA filters
  • 16.4 ft cord
  • 3 lb without cord
Specification Details
Power Corded; 16.4 ft cord; 400 W brushless motor
Suction Up to 15 kPa stated
Filtration 3-layer system; 2 extra washable HEPA filters; capture figure not stated
Dust cup 0.8 L, one-button empty
Accessories 11, including dusting brush, crevice nozzles and extension wand
Weight 3 lb without cord

Intercleaner VC1701 — corded, 15 kPa, 400 W, 16.4 ft cord, 0.8 L cup, 3-layer filtration + 2 spare washable HEPA, 11 accessories, 3 lb

The Only Corded Stick That Mentions HEPA Filters

Of the seven corded models on the shelf, this is the only one whose listing mentions HEPA at all, and it ships with two spare washable HEPA filters. That is less than it sounds: the listing gives no capture percentage, no particle size and no sealed-system claim, so it cannot be compared with the Shark IY143H’s specific statement. Still, among corded sticks it is the one that addresses filtration.

Its 0.8-liter cup is the largest stated among the corded sticks, ahead of the Bissell (0.67 L) and the Shark HV322 (0.68 quart). Its 11 accessories cover windowsills, keyboards, stairs and sofas, which is useful for the above-floor dust that settles on ledges in dry climates.

The 15 kPa figure is lower than the 40 to 55 kPa printed on several cordless budget sticks, but those figures are not measured on any shared standard, so do not read too much into the gap.

Pros

  • Only corded stick mentioning HEPA filters
  • Largest stated cup among corded sticks
  • Long 16.4 ft cord
  • Big accessory kit

Cons

  • No HEPA capture figure or seal
  • Best for hard floors and short carpet
  • Warranty not stated

7. PERSAVE P70 — Best Budget Cordless With a Long Hose

Budget cordless with long hosePERSAVE P70

Self-standing cordless stick with a 26-inch flexible hose, a 1.5L cup, removable batteries and a touch screen.

Check price on Amazon$89.99 as of Oct 20, 2026 5:58 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • Only stick here with a flexible hose
  • 1.5L cup, largest stated on the shelf
  • Removable batteries and wall charging
  • Stands on its own between rooms
Specification Details
Power Cordless, removable batteries; 70 min on low, 20 to 25 min on Max
Suction 55 kPa stated; 650 W motor
Hose 26 in flexible hose for tight reaches
Dust cup 1.5L, one-touch emptying
Filtration Sealed multi-layer; 99% of particles above 0.1 micron claimed
Weight 6 lb

PERSAVE P70 — cordless, 55 kPa, 650 W, 70 min low / 20–25 min Max, 26 in hose, 1.5L cup, removable batteries, 6 lb

The Only Stick on the Shelf With a Flexible Hose

Every other stick here reaches tight spots with a rigid wand and crevice tool. The P70 is the only one of the 11 models that adds a flexible hose, 26 inches long. The listing promotes it for dryer vents and outdoor exhausts; it is handy for lint around the dryer and for cobwebs at vents, but a short hose is not a substitute for a full dryer-duct cleaning.

Its 1.5-liter cup ties the KARDV for the largest stated on this shelf, more than double the corded Bissell’s 0.67 liters. The runtime is given both ways, 70 minutes on low and 20 to 25 on Max, and the batteries are removable, which extends its useful life.

The filtration claim, 99% of particles larger than 0.1 micron, is stated without a test method and without the word HEPA. Treat it as a general-purpose budget stick, not an allergy tool.

Pros

  • Unique flexible hose
  • Largest stated cup (tied)
  • Removable batteries
  • Runtime given for low and Max

Cons

  • Filtration claim has no method or HEPA
  • Max runtime only 20 to 25 minutes
  • No warranty stated

Corded vs cordless stick vacuums

Eight of the 13 listings on this shelf are corded and five are cordless, and both have a place. Corded sticks never fade halfway through a room, have no battery to replace, and are generally lighter at the low end: the three lightest stated weights here (Bissell, Intercleaner, Eureka) are all corded. Their downside is the cord itself, which limits reach and makes stairs awkward.

Cordless sticks are the easiest to grab, and the best of them now carry sealed filtration. Their runtime is always a best case, and batteries lose capacity with age, so choose a model with a removable battery if you plan to keep it for years. If you settle on cordless, our sibling guide to the best cordless vacuums goes further on runtime fine print and battery care.

Filtration, seals and what a stick can do for indoor air

The EPA defines a HEPA filter as one that can remove at least 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns, the hardest size to capture. Only one stick here, the Shark IY143H, states a HEPA capture figure, and it is also the only one describing a seal around the system. Other listings use phrases like washable filtration, 3-layer filtration or sealed multi-layer filtration without a standard behind them.

The EPA’s asthma-trigger guidance recommends weekly vacuuming of carpets and upholstered furniture with a HEPA-filtered vacuum, and that people with asthma or allergies leave the room while it is vacuumed. EPA material on biological contaminants notes that household dust can carry mold, pollen, dust mite and pet allergens and gets stirred into the air during normal activity. For airborne allergens a vacuum cannot reach, pair floor cleaning with a room air cleaner; see our guide to the best air purifiers for allergies, and our HEPA vacuum roundup for fully sealed machines.

Weight, cups and stairs: specs to read before you buy

  • Weight. Stated weights here run from 2.6 lb (Bissell 2033) to about 8.6 lb (Shark HV322 and HV371). Under 5 lb is easy to carry upstairs; the heavier Rocket models clean carpet more aggressively.
  • Dust cup. Stated volumes range from 0.68 quart (about 0.64 L) to 1.5 L. Bigger cups mean fewer emptying sessions, and every emptying session releases some dust, so empty outdoors when you can.
  • Cord length. Only three models state one: 15, 16.4 and 18 feet.
  • Handheld conversion. Most picks convert, which matters for stairs. If stairs are your main job, our guide to the best vacuums for stairs compares tools built for treads and risers.
  • Suction. Four listings print kPa (15 to 55); most corded models give only motor watts or nothing. Those numbers are not comparable across brands.

Front Range notes: grit, dry air and smoke

Dry Colorado air keeps dust light and quick to resettle on ledges and floors, and winter brings gravel and de-icer residue in on boots. A light stick kept near the entry door gets used more often than a heavy upright in a closet, and frequent short passes are what keep grit from wearing floor finishes.

During wildfire smoke events, the EPA advises avoiding vacuuming unless the vacuum has a HEPA filter, because ordinary vacuums can stir fine particles back into the air. After smoke passes, it recommends misting and wet mopping hard surfaces and using a HEPA-type vacuum for dusty areas. On this shelf, only the Shark IY143H makes a HEPA claim specific enough to fit that advice.

What a stick vacuum should never pick up

The EPA says homeowners should not dust, sweep or vacuum debris that may contain asbestos. In older Front Range homes that can include crumbling popcorn ceiling texture, damaged vinyl floor tile and old pipe or duct insulation. Our asbestos clean-up guide explains why that work belongs to accredited professionals.

In homes built before 1978, the EPA advises using only HEPA-filtered vacuums, and not dry sweeping, where there is visible dust or debris from chipping paint. It also warns against vacuums with beater bars on painted surfaces because they can wear paint away. See our page on lead paint dust before cleaning old windowsills or a renovation zone.

And if dust comes back within a day, or a musty smell lingers no matter how often you vacuum, the cause is likely in the house: ducts, the furnace filter, moisture or mold. Our guide to hiring a home inspector covers what a professional checks, and Front Range homeowners can reach out through our contact page to connect with a vetted local inspector.

Frequently asked questions

Is a corded or cordless stick vacuum better?

Corded sticks run without time limits, have no battery to replace and include the lightest models on this shelf. Cordless sticks are more convenient and the best of them offer sealed HEPA filtration, but their runtime is a best case and batteries age. Choose by how much floor you clean at once.

What is the best stick vacuum for allergies?

Choose one that states a HEPA capture figure and a sealed system. Of the 13 listings compared here, only the Shark IY143H makes both claims. Vacuum weekly and have allergy sufferers leave the room while you clean, as EPA asthma guidance suggests.

Can a stick vacuum replace a full-size vacuum?

In apartments and homes with mostly hard floors and area rugs, often yes. Wall-to-wall carpet usually still benefits from a weekly pass with an upright or a corded carpet-focused stick.

How heavy should a stick vacuum be?

Stated weights here run from 2.6 lb to about 8.6 lb. Lighter models are easier on stairs and for quick pickups; heavier corded models such as the Shark Rocket line tend to describe stronger carpet cleaning.

Can a stick vacuum clean up old paint dust or wildfire ash?

Only with care. EPA guidance calls for HEPA-filtered vacuums and no dry sweeping where there is visible paint dust in pre-1978 homes, and wet mopping plus a HEPA-type vacuum after wildfire smoke. Suspected asbestos debris should not be vacuumed at all.
