Choosing the best bathroom vanity starts with a tape measure, not a style board. Width decides single or double sink, depth decides whether the door still clears, and the height of the drain and supply lines in the wall decides whether a cabinet fits without re-plumbing. After that comes the question that determines how long the vanity survives a steamy bathroom: what the cabinet box is made of. This guide compares current vanity listings from 24 to 60 inches by the job each suits, then covers materials, tops, faucet holes, rough-in heights, outlets and the moisture problems an inspector looks for under the sink.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

How we compared: we compared 11 current Amazon listings for freestanding bathroom vanities with a sink top on what each listing states: overall size, sink count, cabinet material, top and basin material, faucet-hole layout, what is in the box, assembly and plumbing notes. The same searches returned faucets, mirrors, light fixtures, a drop-in sink and organizers, which we left out. We did not inspect, install or handle any of these vanities. Prices and availability change often, so check the current listing before buying.

DELUXE LIVING 48 in. — yellow poplar cabinet, engineered marble top + backsplash, ceramic sink, 8 in. faucet drilling, 7 drawers, assembled

One of Only Two Solid Wood Cabinets on the Shelf

Of the 11 vanity listings we compared, only two describe a solid wood cabinet box: this 48-inch model and its 60-inch double sibling in pick 5. Five listings say outright that they are MDF, one says engineered wood, and the rest do not clearly name the cabinet material. In a bathroom where steam, splashes and the occasional slow drip leak are normal, that difference decides how the cabinet ages. Composite boards tend to swell and crumble when edges stay wet; solid wood can move, but it rarely turns to mush.

It is also one of three vanities on the shelf that ship fully assembled, and one of only two that include a backsplash. You still need a faucet, and the top is drilled for an 8-inch widespread model, so a single-hole or 4-inch centerset faucet will not fit without a cover plate.

The listing does not mention formaldehyde certification for any composite parts, does not state a warranty and does not give rough-in heights. At about 245 pounds it is a two-person carry, and the listing notes curbside-style truck delivery.

Pros

  • Solid wood cabinet resists moisture better than MDF
  • Top, sink and backsplash included
  • Arrives assembled with dovetail drawers

Cons

  • Very heavy for upstairs bathrooms
  • Needs an 8 in. widespread faucet
  • No warranty or rough-in heights stated

2. Yaheetech 24-Inch — Best for Small Bathrooms

Best for small bathroomsYaheetech 24 in.

  • 24.5 in. wide, fits powder rooms and small baths
  • Ceramic top drilled for a 4 in. centerset faucet
  • Stated load ratings for basin, shelf and drawer
Specification Details

Plumbing fit Wall drain and supply between 18.3 and 26.4 in. above the floor
Load / warranty Basin and shelf 66 lb each, drawer 44 lb; no additional warranty

Yaheetech 24 in. — MDF cabinet, ceramic basin top, 4 in. centerset drilling, 2 soft-close doors + drawer, rough-in 18.3–26.4 in.

The Only Listing That Tells You Where Your Pipes Need to Be

Most vanity listings give outside dimensions and leave the plumbing to you. Yaheetech is the only one of the 11 that states a rough-in range: the drain and water supply coming out of the wall should sit between about 18.3 and 26.4 inches above the floor. That single line answers the most common return reason for a small vanity, which is a drawer or shelf that collides with the trap.

At 24.5 inches wide it is one of two 24-inch vanities on the shelf, alongside the AMERLIFE farmhouse model. Yaheetech wins the small-bath slot for the plumbing guidance, the soft-close door and drawer, and the stated load ratings.

The trade-off is the box: it is MDF, and the listing does not mention a moisture-resistant coating or formaldehyde compliance labeling. It also states no warranty beyond the standard return window. Keep the under-sink area dry and check the trap connection after the first week.

Pros

  • States the drain and supply height range
  • Compact 24.5 in. footprint
  • Soft-close door and drawer

Cons

  • MDF cabinet with no moisture coating stated
  • No warranty beyond returns
  • Limited to 4 in. centerset faucets

3. IRONCK 30-Inch Natural — Best 30-Inch Storage Layout

Best 30-inch storageIRONCK 30 in. Natural

Why we like it

  • Side storage unit mounts left or right
  • Countertop rated to hold over 200 lb
  • States basin size and faucet-hole spacing
  • Moisture-resistant finish on engineered wood
Specification Details

Faucet holes Three pre-drilled holes described as 5.5 in. center-set; faucet not included
Storage Doors, drawer and a 3-tier open side unit that mounts on either side
Load Over 200 lb on the countertop; 30 lb per drawer

IRONCK HK-ZHZXST-08 — 30 in., engineered wood, ceramic top, 3 faucet holes, reversible side shelf, 200+ lb top rating

The Only Vanity With a Reversible Side Unit

Four of the 11 listings are 30-inch vanities. This IRONCK is the only vanity on the shelf, at any width, with a side storage tower you can mount on either side. That matters in small bathrooms where the toilet, tub or door swing leaves room on only one side of the sink. It also gives the most specific top numbers among the 30-inch models: basin dimensions and a countertop load rating over 200 pounds.

The faucet description needs a careful read. The listing says three holes at “5.5-inch center-set,” which is neither the standard 4-inch centerset nor the standard 8-inch widespread spacing. Measure the holes before buying a faucet, or choose a single-handle faucet with a deck plate that covers the spread.

IRONCK calls the box engineered wood with a moisture-resistant finish but does not say which board or whether it carries formaldehyde compliance labeling. With an open side unit, also expect towels and products to collect splash.

Pros

  • Side unit fits left or right layouts
  • Top rated over 200 lb
  • Basin and top dimensions stated

Cons

  • Unusual 5.5 in. faucet-hole spacing stated
  • Board type not named
  • No warranty stated

4. DELUXE LIVING 36-Inch Black — Best for Flexible Faucet Choice

Best for faucet flexibilityDELUXE LIVING 36 in. Black

Why we like it

  • Single-hole drilled, with 4 and 8 in. positions marked
  • Drill bit included for extra faucet holes
  • Solid surface composite sink with overflow
  • Adjustable feet for uneven floors

Cabinet MDF with melamine finish; adjustable feet
Top / sink Integral solid surface composite top and sink with overflow
Faucet holes Single hole drilled; 4 in. and 8 in. locations marked; drill bit included
Storage Two soft-close doors and 4 drawers
Weight / assembly About 99 lb; numbered parts, assembly required

DELUXE LIVING 36 in. — MDF/melamine, solid surface integral sink with overflow, 1-hole + 4/8 in. options, adjustable feet

The Only Top You Can Drill for Any Common Faucet

No other vanity on this shelf marks alternate faucet positions, and most do not include a faucet. This DELUXE LIVING listing is the only one that ships with a single hole already drilled, marks where 4-inch and 8-inch holes would go, and includes a drill bit to make them. If you already own a faucet or have a specific one in mind, that flexibility removes the most common compatibility headache.

The integral solid surface sink is also one of three tops on the shelf that mention an overflow, and adjustable feet appear on only two vanities here. Both details help in older Front Range bathrooms where floors are rarely level. Note the actual width: 37 inches, not 36. Measure the alcove.

The box is MDF with a melamine finish. Melamine sheds water well on the faces, but cut edges and screw holes are the weak spots. Seal any holes you drill for plumbing.

Pros

  • Fits single-hole, 4 in. or 8 in. faucets
  • Overflow and adjustable feet
  • Four drawers plus doors

Cons

  • MDF cabinet
  • Actually 37 in. wide
  • Assembly required; no warranty stated

5. DELUXE LIVING 60-Inch Double — Best Double-Sink Solid Wood Vanity

Best double-sink vanityDELUXE LIVING 60 in. Double

60-inch double vanity: yellow poplar cabinet, engineered marble top, backsplash, two ceramic sinks; ships assembled.

Why we like it

  • Only double vanity with a solid wood cabinet
  • Two ceramic sinks in an engineered marble top
  • Backsplash included; arrives assembled
  • Four soft-close doors and five dovetail drawers
Specification Details

Cabinet Yellow poplar solid wood, painted
Top / sinks Engineered marble top, backsplash, two ceramic sinks
Faucet holes Three holes per sink for 8 in. widespread faucets; faucets not included
Storage 4 soft-close doors, 5 dovetail drawers, metal slides
Weight About 272 lb, the heaviest vanity on the shelf

DELUXE LIVING 60 in. double — yellow poplar, engineered marble + backsplash, 2 ceramic sinks, 8 in. drilling, assembled, about 272 lb

The Only Double Vanity Here Built From Solid Wood

Two of the 11 listings are double-sink vanities. This one and the chartustriable kit in pick 6 sit at nearly the same width, but they are built very differently. DELUXE LIVING uses the same yellow poplar cabinet as pick 1, an engineered marble top and a backsplash, and ships assembled. The chartustriable is MDF flat-pack.

A double vanity means two drains and two sets of supplies. If you are replacing a single vanity, the wall almost certainly has one drain in the middle; adding a second sink is a plumbing job, often a permit job, and sometimes means opening the wall. Our vanity installation guide covers what changes when you go from one sink to two.

At 272 pounds, getting it upstairs and through a 30-inch door is the first problem to solve. Faucets are not included and each sink is drilled for 8-inch widespread faucets.

Pros

  • Solid wood cabinet on a double vanity
  • Top, sinks and backsplash included
  • Arrives assembled

Cons

  • Heaviest on the shelf at about 272 lb
  • Two faucets to buy, 8 in. widespread only
  • Converting from one sink needs new plumbing

6. chartustriable 59-Inch Double — Best Kit With Faucet Included

Best kit with faucet includedchartustriable 59 in. Double

59-inch MDF double vanity set with ceramic sinks, faucet and drain pipes, sliding barn doors and three drawers.

Check price on Amazon$429.95 as of Oct 21, 2026 2:53 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • Only listing that includes a faucet and drain pipes
  • Two ceramic basins with overflow
  • Sliding barn doors need no swing clearance
  • Installation video offered alongside instructions
Specification Details
Size 59 in. W x 19.6 in. D x 34.3 in. H
Cabinet MDF; farmhouse style with sliding barn doors
Top / sinks Ceramic double basin top with overflow
In the box Sink, faucet and drain (“sewer”) pipes per listing
Storage Three pull-out drawers and two barn-door bays
Weight / assembly About 150 lb; flat-pack assembly

chartustriable DJ0856 — 59 in. MDF double vanity, ceramic basins with overflow, faucet + drain pipes included, barn doors, 3 drawers

The Only Vanity on the Shelf That Includes a Faucet

Seven listings say plainly that the faucet is not included, and the rest are silent. This chartustriable set is the only one that lists a faucet and drain pipes in the box. For a rental refresh or a budget remodel where the goal is a working double sink with one order, that simplifies the shopping list.

The listing does not describe the faucet: no flow rate, no certification and no finish detail beyond the vanity color. The EPA’s WaterSense program labels bathroom faucets that use no more than 1.5 gallons per minute, a cut of 30 percent or more from the standard 2.2. An unlabeled bundled faucet may be fine, but if water use matters, budgeting for a WaterSense faucet is a reasonable swap.

The cabinet is MDF, flat-packed in many numbered panels. Sliding barn doors save floor space in front of the vanity but leave a gap where the doors overlap. The dimensions in one bullet are also garbled, listing the sink as 59 inches deep. Rely on the overall size.

Pros

  • Faucet and drain pipes included
  • Double basins with overflow
  • Lighter than solid wood doubles at about 150 lb

Cons

  • MDF cabinet, long flat-pack assembly
  • Bundled faucet specs not stated
  • Sink dimensions in listing are inconsistent

7. Christopher Knight Home 30-Inch Vintage — Best for Easy Plumbing Access

Best for plumbing accessChristopher Knight Home 30 in.

30-inch vintage-style vanity with ceramic sink and overflow, pre-cut back for pipes and soft-close doors.

Check price on Amazon$309.99 as of Oct 21, 2026 2:53 pm GMT+0000 — prices change; see Amazon for current price.

Why we like it

  • Pre-cut back panel clears existing plumbing
  • Ceramic sink with an overflow
  • Door racks and an inner drawer with dividers
  • Drilled for a 4 in. centerset faucet
Specification Details
Size 30 in. W x 18.3 in. D x 33.7 in. H
Cabinet Material not stated in listing
Top / sink Ceramic sink top with metal-ringed overflow
Faucet holes Three holes for a 4 in. centerset faucet; faucet not included
Plumbing Pre-cut back for pipe access
Storage / weight Soft-close doors with door shelves, inner drawer, adjustable shelf; about 90.5 lb

Christopher Knight Home 1129 — 30 in., ceramic sink with overflow, 4 in. centerset, pre-cut back, soft-close doors

A Cut-Away Back Meant for Existing Pipes

Only two listings describe the back of the cabinet: this one, with a pre-cut back for plumbing, and the black IRONCK 30-inch with an open back. Yaheetech states the pipe heights it fits; Christopher Knight Home instead removes the problem by leaving room. For a straight swap where you do not want to move the drain, a cut-away back and a single interior drawer, rather than a stack of full-depth drawers, leave the most room for a trap.

It is one of three tops on the shelf that mention an overflow, and the 4-inch centerset drilling suits the most common budget faucets. The vintage styling, with gold knobs and an ornate base, is the other reason to choose it.

The listing does not say what the cabinet is made of. Ask the seller or check the label for a TSCA Title VI compliance statement before assuming it is solid wood.

Pros

  • Pre-cut back eases pipe fit
  • Overflow on the ceramic sink
  • Common 4 in. centerset drilling

Cons

  • Cabinet material not stated
  • No warranty stated
  • Ornate base harder to clean around

Size, sinks and faucet holes

Measure the wall width, then subtract clearance for door casings, a tub lip or a toilet. Common widths on this shelf are 24, 30, 36, 48 and 60 inches. Depths run from about 18 to 22 inches; a deeper vanity gives more counter but can crowd a narrow room or block a door swing. Standard height here is about 34 inches, which is taller than older 30- to 32-inch vanities.

Single or double is mostly a width question. Below 48 inches, a single sink with more counter is usually more useful. At 60 inches, a double works, but only if the plumbing supports it. Our bathroom vanity guide covers layouts and clearances in more detail, and if floor space is tight, a floating vanity mounted to the wall is another route.

Faucet holes trip up more buyers than size does. On this shelf you will see 4-inch centerset, 8-inch widespread, single-hole and one odd 5.5-inch description. Buy the faucet after you confirm the drilling, and note that the EPA’s WaterSense label applies to bathroom sink faucets that use 1.5 gallons per minute or less.

Cabinet materials and formaldehyde

Most budget vanities are MDF or particleboard with a melamine, laminate or painted face. They look fine new; the weak points are cut edges, screw holes and the bottom panel under the trap. Solid wood, offered on only two vanities here, tolerates the occasional leak far better.

Composite wood brings a second question. The EPA notes that formaldehyde is used in resins for composite wood products such as hardwood plywood, particleboard and medium-density fiberboard, and that everyone is exposed to small amounts off-gassed from such products. Under TSCA Title VI, composite wood panels and finished goods containing them sold in the United States must be certified by a third party and labeled as TSCA Title VI compliant. None of the 11 listings on this shelf mentions that label. That does not mean they lack it, but look for it on the carton or cabinet, and ventilate the room well for the first weeks after installing a new composite vanity.

Plumbing, outlets and moisture: what inspectors check

Rough-in and drains

Before ordering, note the height and side-to-side position of the drain stub and both supply valves. Drawers that run full depth collide with traps. Shut-off valves should be accessible after the vanity is in. A new vanity often means a new trap, tailpiece and pop-up drain; our guide to the bathroom sink drain explains those parts.

GFCI and lighting

Bathroom receptacles near the sink should be GFCI protected, and a vanity swap is a good moment to test them. If the new vanity is wider than the old one, check that the outlet is not now hidden behind a cabinet side. Our bathroom GFCI outlet guide covers testing and placement, and a vanity light centered on the new mirror usually means moving a junction box.

Moisture and mold under the sink

The space under a vanity is dark, closed and right below the plumbing. The EPA advises fixing plumbing leaks as soon as possible, drying water-damaged materials within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mold growth, and keeping indoor humidity below 60 percent, ideally 30 to 50 percent. In practice: run the bath fan during and after showers, check the trap and supplies a week after install, and replace any swollen or stained cabinet floor. A bath fan that vents properly matters; see our guide to bathroom fan ducts. Front Range air is dry for most of the year, which helps, but a slow leak inside a closed cabinet does not dry out on its own.

When to bring in a pro

A like-for-like vanity swap is a common DIY project. Moving a drain, adding a second sink, replacing corroded galvanized supply lines, or finding rot in the subfloor after the old vanity comes out are plumber and contractor jobs, and in many Front Range cities they require a permit. Our guide to hiring for plumbing work explains what to ask. If you find staining, soft subfloor or a musty smell when the old vanity comes out, an inspection can show how far the moisture has traveled.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best material for a bathroom vanity?

Solid wood and plywood cabinets handle bathroom moisture better than MDF or particleboard, which can swell when edges stay wet. On the shelf we compared, only two vanities describe a solid wood cabinet. If you choose a composite vanity, look for a TSCA Title VI compliance label and keep the area under the sink dry.

What size bathroom vanity do I need?

Measure the wall and subtract room for door casings, a tub edge or a toilet. Common widths are 24, 30, 36, 48 and 60 inches. Below about 48 inches a single sink is usually more practical; double sinks generally start at 60 inches and need two drains.

Do bathroom vanities come with a faucet?

Most do not. On the 11 listings we compared, only one double vanity kit includes a faucet and drain pipes. Check the faucet-hole layout on the top, such as 4 inch centerset, 8 inch widespread or single hole, before buying a faucet.

How high should the drain be for a bathroom vanity?

It depends on the cabinet. One listing we compared states the wall drain and supplies should sit between about 18.3 and 26.4 inches above the floor. Measure your existing rough-in and compare it with drawer and shelf positions, or choose a vanity with an open or cut-away back.

Can I replace a bathroom vanity myself?

A like-for-like swap with the drain and supplies in the same place is a common DIY job. Moving the drain, adding a second sink or repairing water-damaged subfloor usually calls for a plumber or contractor and may require a permit, so check with your city first.
